God is the lawgiver

A
  • The cardinal moment of revelation was when God revealed the Torah (written and Oral Torah) to the Jewish people at Mt Sinai after the exodus from slavery.
  • God is the source of morality. He provides an ethical framework for living which an adherent is required to follow
  • Revelation continues through the text and the interpretation of the text by Rabbis through divine wisdom → Judaism is therefore a religion of revealed law.
  • “Lord is our judge, the lord is our lawgiver” Isaiah 33:22”
