Properties of light Flashcards
How does the light travels?
Light always travels in a straight line
What does opaque means?
It means not seet through
What does transparent mean?
It means see through
What is shadow?
A shadow islight blocked by an object
How to make shadow bigger?
Move the object further from screen closer to light source
What waves are light waves?
Transverse
What do luminous mean?
Luminous objects are those which produce light, e.g sun, candel, light bulb
What does it mean non-luminous?
Non-luminous objects are those which reflect lights, e.g everything: Moon, planets, you
Describe how lights gets from the Sun to an object and then to your eyes.
Light reflects off non-luminous objects and into our eyes ans that is how we see
Name the objects that produces the light?
The Sun, candle, bulb
What is mirror?
Mirror is the shiny smoth surface which reflects all the light at the same angle givin a clear reflection
What is meant by a diffuse reflection?
Rough surface look dull, because the light is reflected back in lots of different directions. This is called a diffuse reflection.
What is Law of Reflection?
Angle of incidence equals to angle of reflection
What is refraction?
Refraction happens when light rays move to a more or less dense substance.
What is medium?
Any substance that light travels through is called medium
