What is enoxaparin?

A

Enoxaparin (60 mg/0.6 mL or 100 mg / 1 mL prefilled syringe) is an anticoagulant.

Indications for enoxaparin?

A
  1. Patients with STEMI (as defined by the relevant QAS coronary artery reperfusion checklist) who have received QAS tenecteplase (as an adjunct medication to aspirin & clopidogrel)

  1. Allergy and/or ADR

2. Patients contraindicated for pre-hospital fibrinolysis administration

  2. Low bodyweight (women <45kg & men <57kg)

What is the dose of enoxaparin for an adult?

A

Loading dose 30 mg IV

Maintenance dose 1 mg / kg SUBCUT
Single dose only, not to exceed 100 mg
To be administered 15 minutes following IV enoxaparin loading dose
