1.2 - Computer Components (Storage Devices) Flashcards
(7 cards)
What are the three port connector storage devices?
SCSI (small computer system interface)
SAS (serial attached SCSI)
SATA (serial AT attachment)
What is a characteristic of SCSI?
Old
How does SATA compare to SAS?
SATA is a less expensive alternative but comes at the cost of being much less high performing than a SAS
What are three types of storage devices?
Hard drives, Solid state drives (SSDs), and the Cloud
What are two positives and one negative of hard drives?
Cheap per GB and generally reliable. But not durable due to moving parts
What are two positives and one negative to solid state drives (SSDs)?
Have higher read/write speeds than hard drives and are more durable. But come at a larger cost
What are two positives and two negatives to cloud storage?
Cloud storage is easily scalable (easy to increase) and can be accessed from anywhere. But the accessibility requires internet connection and you are putting your files safety in the hands of the off-site location
