Q

What happens in the mid to late diastole?

A
  1. Blood wants to go back to the heart so it comes through pulomonary veins and inferior vena cava
  2. The blood is collected in the atria and the AV values open allowing 70- 80% of blood to go to the ventricles
  3. The blood is now collected in the ventricles, but the aorta pressure is higher than the ventricular so the av valves stay shut
  4. S A nodes create depolarisation, causing contraction so the myocardium muscles contract to get the last 20% of blood collected

Q

What happens in the isovolumetric ventricular contraction?

A

1.The ventricles contract and the blood is pushed high up the pulmonary trunk and aorta but it has a higher pressure than the ventricles so the AV stays shut
2.No blood can leave the ventrices because the arterial pressure is more than the ventricular pressure and the av snaps shut making a Lub (S1) sound

Q

What happens in Mid to late systole ventricular ejection?

A
  1. The ventricles are stilll contracting and squeezing , so the ventricular pressure is higher than the arterial pressure
  2. The blood is finally able to flow out and be through the semi lunar values
  3. The Av valves are still closed because the ventricular pressure is higher than the artial

Q

What happens in the icovolumetric relaxation?

A

1.Blood is distributed
2.The pressure of the aorta and pulmonary trunk will be higher than the ventricular pressure
3.The pulmonary trunk and the aorta stretch blood recoils back down
4.The semi lunar valves shut making a sound called the dub (S2) Ventricular pressure is higher than artial pressure so the av valves are still closed
5.After here is starts going to diastole and the cycle happens again
