12
Q

How do the operations of the CRS fans affect the associated CREF fans?

A

CRS fan must be running to start the associated CREF fan in auto.
If the CRS fan trips, the associated CREF and CRRA fans and CACW pump also trip.

Q

Describe the chiller load recycle.

A

Chiller stops on low temp, but CW pump continues to run. Chiller will restart automatically. (This even works when transferred to the RSP)

Q

What occurs when a chiller start signal is received.

A

G. After start signal, chiller will start after 51 seconds given:
1. Not In Remote, No Stop Signal, Safety Interlock clear, and CW temp > 42F (40F) (Load Recycle)
2. Start PB will be out the chiller begins to start at 51 sec.

17
Q

What occurs in the CR CW system when a fan that it supplies is tripped or secured?

A

A trip or the stopping of any op. fan supplied by CR chilled water will cause a trip of the assoc. cw pump (If in auto).

The 10 sec TD delay does NOT introduce a TD for the auto start signal to the other train. Therefore, it is possible that the other hrCW pump could auto-start without receiving a trip of the in service CW pump.

18
Q

Where do the switchgear room cooling units(A(B-D)HV401) get their chill water and what is unique about them?

A

The A(B-D)HV401 Switchgear Room Cooling Units also get chill water from A(B)K400 chillers. They each have a cooling coil from both chillers which is why they don’t cause a CR vent train swap.

19
Q

What interlocks do all CR fans have?

A

All fans will trip on low flow (disabled on startup for a pre-determined time interval)

20
Q

What occurs during a LOP/LOCA with regards to the CR fans?

A

On a LOCA/LOP, the CABE fans will be started at 65 seconds. Only the fan in “Run” will start, the “Auto” fan will only start on a failure (low flow) in the “Run” fan.

21
Q

What are the power supplies to the chillers?

A

1E Chillers (A(B)K403 – A(B) Bus, CR Chillers (A(B)K400 – C(D) Bus

22
Q

What occurs to TB chill water on a LOP and what happens if a malfunction occurs on the components that actuate?

A

On LOP – TBCW header isol is closed on voltage restoration. RACS valves are timed open after racs pumps start.

CW is lower pressure than RACS, if valves fail to reposition properly, CW tank may overflow

23
Q

Describe operations of cref recirc.

A

Cref Recirc is manual operation only! Who puts it in recirc? You do!!!

24
Q

What happens to the cw units on a lop?

A

TBCW – on lop, units trip on high condenser pressure due to loss of TACS

25
Q

What starts with the AP400 control area chiller cw pump?

A

On start of AP400 control area chiller cw pump, A and B SACS room coolers get a start signal, it doesn’t go by normal channelization. This exception shows up on NRC exams. BP400 starts C/D sacs room coolers.

26
Q

What fan trains supply what channels?

A

Fan trains are A/C and B/D
1. AP400 supplies A and B 214’s
2. CP400 supplies C and D

27
Q

What happens during a low flow condition in the AP400 loop?

A

i.e. by a trip, the BP400 pump will auto start. With a BP400 pump start, if the C/D214 fans are in AUTO they will get a start signal. If they are in AULD, they will not start.
* AULD starts the fans on 100F ONLY
* AUTO starts the fans on its assoc pump running ONLY

28
Q

What are the effects of a trip or the stopping of any operating fan supplied by control room CW?

A

A trip OR the stopping of any operating fan supplied by Control Room Chilled Water will cause a trip of the associated Chilled Water Circulating Pump (IF associated Chilled Water Circulating Pump is in AUTO). This trip will result in an auto start of the standby Control Area Ventilation System and the associated chiller to trip on low chilled water flow

29
Q

What is still active with TSC chillers when control is transferred to the RSP?

A

Chiller trip functions and starts.

30
Q

What does TSC chill water cool?

A
  • 408 1E Panel
  • 314 TSC
  • 316 RSP
31
Q

What happens to 1E CW during a LOP/LOCA?

A
  • During LOP, chiller trips on undervoltage.
  • During LOCA, chiller stays running.
  • During LOP or LOCA, chillers start at 75 secs.
32
Q

What does the 1E CW ON push button do?

A

Initiates safety circuit.

33
Q

What does the 1E CW start push button do?

A
  • Starts LO pump.
  • Prevents restart for 15 mins.
34
Q

What are the 1E CW pump starts?

A
  • Opposite loop low flow,
    AND
  • Pump in AUTO,
    AND
  • No PSIS
35
Q

What happens when a 1E CW pump swap (start) occurs?

A
  • Starts chiller,
    AND
  • Starts 408,
    AND
  • Starts ‘A’ or ‘B’ SACS
36
Q

What are the 1E chill water pump trips?

A
  • Chiller malfunction.
  • Low chill water flow.
  • Low flow on A(B)VH-408.

A
  • Chiller malfunction.
  • 401 Low Flow.
  • 403 Low Flow.
  • 214 Low Flow.
39
Q

What is the low flow trip sequence?

A

A trip or stop of any fan in a running loop will trip pump, which will then start opposite train.

40
Q

A

Both trains will start on either signal.

41
Q

What happens to Control area chillers on a LOP/LOCA?

A

Both trains will start on either signal.

42
Q

What does the motor start delay do?

A
  • Motor start delayed for 15 mins after chiller start.
