Turbine Building Chilled Water - 1.0 Flashcards

1
Q

What are the CW pump interlocks?

A
  • Trip on low flow ≤1100 gpm. Bypassed for the first 20 secs after pump start.
  • Auto start on low flow of running pump.

Q

What do the different bezel light indications mean?

A
  • Solid light: High flow.
  • Flashing: Low flow.

*Hi/Lo flow bezel illuminates solid on high flow, flashes on low flow.

Q

How does the Motor Restart Delay/Load Recycle work?

A

Motor Restart Delay/Load Recycle Differs from 1E/CR Chillers
1. When a chiller starts, the motor reset delay timer prevents restart for a period of 15 minutes.
2. The only exception to this is the Load Recycle:
* Chiller trips on low discharge CW temp, auto restart when CW temp ≥ 50F.

Q

What happens to TB chill water during a LOP?

A

LOP Summary:

  1. The Chillers and circ pumps trip.
  2. The HV-9530A1, A3, B1, B3 valves close @ T-13 seconds (Chill water supply isolates)
  3. Both RACS pumps get a start signal @ 85 seconds
  4. The HV-9530A2, A4, B2, B4 open @ T-85 seconds to (RACS Supply to DW

Q

What happens to TB Chill Water during a LOCA?

A

LOCA Summary:

  1. Chillers trip on loss of TACS (condenser high refrigerant pressure).
  2. The primary containment isolation valves (HV-9531A1-A4, B1-B4) auto close and isolate the DW loads.
  3. System is unavailable until the LOCA signal clears.
  4. RACS will load shed and not be able to supply cooling to DW loads (can be manually overridden if required)

Q

What happens to the containment isolation valves when either OPEN RACS/CHW are depressed?

A
  1. Both Sets of CW supply/return valves will auto close when their respective loop RACS supply/return valves “OPEN RACS” control switch is depressed.
  2. Both sets of RACS supply/return valves will auto close when their respective loop Chilled water supply/return valves “OPEN CHW” control switch is depressed.
