sinfulness of human persons, need for a savior, the heart as wicked, authority outside of ourselves, true answers for life problems.
Why does God’s word matter for counseling?
it tells us the true condition of mankind, gives s divine answers for out condition, tells us how to live rightly in response to the gospel.
what does God’s word tell us about the true condition of mankind?
it tells our fundamental problem, the source of that problem, and the priority of it vs. presenting problems
how do we get divine answers for our condition?
the gospel
how does it tell us to live rightly according to the gospel?
conviction and repentance, right living, growing in righteousness
Why does God’s word matter for counseling
It gives us a proper framework to drive out practice
does our practice change with our framework?
yes because then the source and authority would change.
