How does sin effect relationship with God?
it broke fellowship, communication, and relationship.
What does it mean that it broke fellowship?
A and E hid from God and were removed from the garden, second generations were not as connected to God.
What does broken communication look like?
no longer connected with God regularly, war and discord came quickly
how does broke relationship look like?
God is holy man is not, blame shifting, pride, etc.
What was the temporary fix?
the law
what was the purpose of the Law?
atonement for sin, expose sin, expose need for a saviour
What does it mean that Christ brings salvation?
freedom and eternal life
What does it mean that christ brings forgiveness?
Gods wrath and judgment on Christ instead of man; removed the barrier to relationship
what does it mean that christ brings restoration?
restored relationship with God, adoption as sons and daughters.
restored fellowship because….
spirit now lives in us
christ intercedes for us
father hears our prayers
the gospel is restored to man in…
restored communication (through spirit), and fellowship (through Church), and relationship (love for others)
How do we deal with conflict?
a biblical framework, confession, forgiveness, negotiation
What is a biblical framework for conflict resolution (4 G’s)?
glorify God, get the log out of your own eye, gently restored, go and be reconciled
What does it mean to confess (7 A’s)?
address everyone involved, avoid qualifiers, admit specifically, acknowledge the hurt, accept the consequences, alter your behavior, ask for forgiveness.
what are the four promises of forgiveness?
not dwelling, not bringing it up again, not talking to others, it will not hinder our personal relationships
