Q

diffuse type of adenocarcinoma?

15
Q

leiomyosarcoma?

A

smooth muscle cells- extremely rare
look like spindle, epithelial, or undifferentiated cells

16
Q

complications of adenocarcinoma?

A

metastatsis: peritoneum, lymph nodes umbilicus and virchows node, liver and ovaries (krukenberg tumour)
paraneoplastic syndrome

17
Q

complications of adenocarcinoma?

A

metastatsis: peritoneum, lymph nodes umbilicus and virchows node, liver and ovaries (krukenberg tumour)
paraneoplastic syndrome

18
Q

paraneoplastic syndrome?

A
  1. leser-trelat sign ( seborrhoeic keratosis) cancer- growth factors- keratinocytes.
  2. polyarteritis nodosa- inflamamtion/necrosis of medium arteries. MI/kidney failure
  3. trousseau syndrome migratory thrombosis cancer cells- tissue factor- coagulation cascade leads to thrombosis
  4. pseudoachalasia syndrome
19
Q

risk factors of gastric cancer?

A

age, fh, smoking alcohol obesity

20
Q

risk factors of intestinal type?

A

hpylori, male, type a blood, diet rich in nitrates, nitrosamines and salted food. autoimmune gastritis, pernicious anaemia, achlorhydria

21
Q

symptoms?

A

malaise, weight loss, dyspepsia, loss of appetite, epigastric pain, nausea and vomiting, anaemia, haematemesis, melena

22
Q

signs of gastric cancer?

A

acanthosis nigricans, sister mary joseph syndrome (enlarged belly button lymph nodes), troisiers sign enlarged virchows node

23
Q

how is diagnosis made?

A

endoscopy

24
Q

gastric cancer is usually present in?

A

older people over 75 and males
