16
Q

What is spinal shock?

A

A state of temporary loss of function in the spinal cord. Leads to loss of muscle control.

17
Q

what happens to astrocytes after a traumtic injury?

A

They become reactive:
-hypertrophic
-secrete chrondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CPSGs)
-increased expression

18
Q

What is the result of astrocytes becoming reactive?

A

Formation of a glial scar.

19
Q

what happens due to a glial and myelin debris?

A

Area which axons cannot grow through.
