Describe the FOUR main components that comprise a computer system

A

CPU: The central processing unit is the “brain” of the computer.
Responsible for fetching instructions from memory, decoding them, executing them, and storing the results.

Memory: Memory, or RAM (Random Access Memory) used to temporarily store data and program instructions that the CPU needs to access quickly.

Input/output devices: input device used to input data and commands into the computer, while output devices are used to display or output data. Examples of input devices include keyboards, mice, and scanners, while examples of output devices include monitors, printers, and speakers.

Storage devices: Storage devices are used to store data and program files. Unlike memory, storage devices can retain data even when the computer is turned off.
Examples: hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), and USB drives.
