Distal: structures further from body
Cranial & caudal definitions
Cranial: structures that lie towards head
Caudal: structures that lie towards tail
Dorsal & ventral definitions
Dorsal: structures or positions that lie towards back of trunk
Ventral: structures that lie towards belly
Forelimb distal to carpal joint terms

Divides trunk/head into right & left halves
Paramedian plane definition
Planes parallel to median plane
Transverse plane definition
Pass through any body part perpendicular to parts long axis
Dorsal plane definition
Run parallel to dorsal surface
