A synapse is the junction between a neurone and another neurone and an effector cell.

What is the tiny gap between the cells at a synapse called?
A
Synaptic cleft.

What is a synaptic knob and what does it contain?
A
The swelling of the presynaptic neurone (the one before the synapse)
It contains synaptic vesicles filled with chemicals called neurotransmitters.
