1) Add soda lime to the bottom of the test tube which absorbs CO2, but wear gloves as it is corrosive
2) Add small organisms into the test tube, separating them from the soda lime with cotton wool
3) Add dye onto the end of the capillary tube and measure the rate of respiration by doing distance moved by the dye / time
4) Redo experiment with glass beads which won’t respire as a control
