How do you diagnose mycoplasma?

A

Chest auscultation: often clear
Chest X-ray: often nondiagnostic patchy infiltrates (no lobar consolidation)
Difficult to isolate organism in cultures
Labs: often normal or nonspecific
Typically, a “clinical” diagnosis
Diagnosed by NP swab
