Equipment - Modern Equipment has made participation easier for beginners. Developments allow members of gen pop to improve their performance which encourages participation

A

Cost - Improvements to facilities and equipment come with associated increases in cost. Leads to increased fees for gen pop thus less participation.
Alternate activities - General improvements have led to more alternate activities to physical activities. A lot of them, such as computer games encourages sedentary behaviour
