A
  1. Sudden severe pain
  2. FB sensation
  3. Tearing
  4. Photophobia
  5. Excessive squinting
  6. Sensitivity to light
  7. Injection of conjunctiva

What needs to happen if a patient comes in with a corneal abrasion?

A

Urgent referral for ophthalmology consolation
1. FB removal
2. Damaged cornea: abx ointment
3. Short acting cycloplegic

What should you avoid when having a corneal abrasion?

A
  1. Topical anesthetics (may cause ulcer)
    *decreases healing absence of normal blink reflex exposes once a to injury
  2. Reading, watching TV

A
