14
Q

Explain what the altitude range “green” arc indicates during climb or descent.

A
  • The “Green Arc” predicts where the aircraft will reach the
selected MCP altitude and considers ground speed and vertical speed in its calculations.

Q

Explain how the radio altimeter minimums are set and reference where they are displayed

A
  • Set using the rotary switch on the EFIS HSI control panel.
  • Displayed on the EFIS HSI control panel.
  • Displayed on the top right corner of the ADI
17
Q

Recall how the HSI display modes are selected.

A
  • Use the EFIS HSI control panel.
18
Q

Explain the orientation of the HSI in the PLAN mode.

A
  • The PLAN mode is presented True North up.
19
Q

Recall the various displays associated with each of the different Map switches (ie: NAV AID, ARPT, DATA, WPT, TERR, WXR) on the EFIS control panel.

A

Terrain (TERR) Display Select switch

Push –

  • Displays terrain data in VOR, APP, MAP, and CTR MAP modes
  • Arms terrain data in CTR VOR, CTR APP, and PLN modes
  • Deselects the weather radar display regardless of the mode
    selector position
  • A second push deselects the terrain display

Weather Radar (WXR) switch

Push –

  • Displays weather radar information (refer to Chapter 11, Flight Management, Navigation)

Navigation Aid (NAV AID) switch

Push –

  • Displays only the high altitude VHF navigation aids when the HSI range is 80nm or greater
  • Displays all VHF navigation aids when the HSI range is 40nm or
    less

Airport (ARPT) switch

Push –

  • Displays all FMS database airports in the display range

Route Date (RTE DATA) switch –

Push –

  • Displays the estimated time of arrival and any altitude constraint for each waypoint in the displayed flight path

Waypoint (WPT) switch –

Push –

  • Displays all waypoints when the HSI range is 40nm or less
  • Waypoints associated with NDBs are displayed at any selected range as long as they are within 80nm of the airplane.
20
Q

Recall the function of the FLT DIR switch on the INSTR SOURCE SEL (Instrument Source Select) panel

A

Selects the flight control computer (Left, Center, or Right) used as the
source of commands for the captain’s flight director display

21
Q

Recall the function of the NAV selector (as installed) on the
INSTR SOURCE SEL panel

A

Selects an alternate FMC information source used by EFIS symbol generators and the flight control computers (FCCs). The CDU position is used for operation of the Alternate Navigation System (refer to
Chapter 11, Flight Management, Navigation)

22
Q

Recall the function of the FMC switch (as installed) on the
instrument source select panel.

A

Selects an alternate source of FMC information used by the EFIS symbol generators

23
Q

Recall the function of the EFI switch on the instrument source select panel.

A

Selects an alternate EFIS symbol generator, ILS receiver, and radio altimeter used as the sources of information for the
respective ADI and HSI displays

24
Q

Recall the function of the IRS switch on the instrument source select panel.

A

Selects an alternate IRS information source for the symbol generators, the VSI, and the RDMI. Information provided by the IRS includes attitude, heading, and vertical speed.

25
Q

Recall the function of the AIR DATA switch on the instrument
source select panel.

A

Selects an alternate air data computer information source for the respective Mach/Airspeed indicator, primary altimeter, and
vertical speed indicator.
