Five rights of delegation
A
Right person-the person given a task has the proper skills
Right task-the task falls within job description or scope of practice
Right Direction-directions should be specific and patient centered. RN must confirm the person understands the task they are assigned to do.
Right circumstances-The patient must be stable for a task to be delegated.
Right supervision and evaluation- RN must monitor the activity delegated, following up with person who did task, and evaluating patient.
