1.12 CAFOD and sustainability Flashcards
Sustainability
Living in a way that respects the environment and its natural resources in order to keep everything in balance and harmony.
Catholic beliefs on sustainability
Sustainability involves only using natural resources at a rate they can be replaced to reduce long-term damage to the environment and links to the Catholic belief God made every part of creation good so all creation is important and valuable.
Catholics believe living sustainable means they are good stewards on the Earth
Natural resources should be preserved, not used as objects for profit.
Damaging one element of nature can affect others - there is interdependence in creation.
Christians believe only through caring for all aspects of cretion, that people fulfil their duty as stewards of creation.
