Barcode reader
An input where a scanner uses a light to get data from a barcode which is decoded. It saves time and reduces cost but has limited range and features.
Braille terminal
An output that is a special reader for visually impaired people that uses cells to display text. It is easy to learn and is smaller than previous systems, however it can be read if not learned and errors cannot be erased.
Graphics tablet
An input that is used to capture information such as handwriting and drawings. It is very accurate and can be used to draw diagrams however it is expensive.
Headphones
An output that turns electronic signal to sound waves which gives an audio output. It provides increased productivity and improved listening but is expensive and consumes a lot of power
Hub
A communication hardware that allows the user to communicate with other devices in a network. It is easy to use and install however there’s a limited bandwidth and single point of data
Keyboard
An input that is used to input info with keys that display alphanumeric and special characters including functions. It is efficient and durable but can be slow if inexperienced and can cause injury
Microphone
An input that records audio data and transfers it to a recording medium or speaker. It is cheap and provides input fast however there is a large storage and reduced performance
Modem
Old communication that allows computers to communicate. It is fast and is compatible with fax but isn’t mobile and makes computer vulnerable
Mouse
An input that enables communication between a user and computer by directing a cursor on a screen. It is easy to use and is ideal however flat space is needed and has to be close to the computer
Network Interface card
A communication expansion card that allows interface between computers on a network. It is reliable and secure however its expensive and has limited compatibility.
