Q

what do mixed action sympathomimetics do?

A

mimic epi/norepi and stimulate adrenergic receptor directly and prevent degradation of the neurotransmitters
this is why they’re called mixed action

Q

what is the mechanism of ephedrine?

A

adrenergic alpha and beta receptors agonist and inhibiting reuptake. increasing release of norepi from vesicles in nerve cells
this will increase HR, BP and bronchodilation
