Q

What happens during the cardiac cycle

Start with venous blood going into right atrium of heart

A

1.Venous blood goes from body to vena cava(vein) to right atrium
2.venous blood in right atrium –> right ventricle
3. Ventricle contracts and sends blood to lungs
4. O2 blood –>pulmonary vein –> left atrium
5. From left atrium blood goes thro mitral valve to left ventricle
6. Goes to rest of the body

Q

What are the purpose of valves

A

They help control the flow of blood and make sure it goes in the right direction and don’t back flow

15
Q

What is the pulmonary circuit

A

The pulmonary circuit is the part which the left ventricle pumps de02 blood to the lungs for oxygenation

then back into right atrium

16
Q

What’s the cardiac circuit

A

The cardiac circuit is all about the direction of blood flow through the heart chambers and valves.

17
Q

What’s the purpose of the cardiac circuit

A

To make sure both pulmonary and systemic circuits continue functioning

18
Q

What is the system circuit

A

The systemic circuit is responsible for pumping 02 blood from the left ventricle to the arteries, which gives 02 to the other tissues.(to the rest of the body)

19
Q

What are the 6 functions of blood

A

Transport waste
Transport gases
Transport nutrients
Maintain body temp
Fight infection
Blood clots to prevent blood loss

20
Q

What does the tricuspid valve do

A

Allows blood to pump from left atrium to left ventricle

Stops back flow of blood

21
Q

What is the hearts own pace maker called

A

Sinoatrial mode SA node
