Main components
Reproductive organs:uterus and ovaries of a woman and the testes and penis in the man
Components and functions of the male reproductive organs
Vas deferens-muscular ssperm duct tube that transports sperms cells from the testes and moves upwards in the body and leads to the urethra situated in the middle of the penis.
Bladder
Penis is a muscular external sex organ that goes undergoes an erection by becoming rigid which makes it easier enter the vaginas during intercoyde and during Ejaculation the penis release sperms into the woman’s vagina.
Head of the penis is the sensitive tip of the penis
The foreskin is a protective skin covering the head of the penis and is sometimes removed for circumcision for religious of health purposes and is used for urination.
Urethra
Transports sperms out of the body during the process of Ejaculation
Testes
Situated outside the body in a scrotum(skin pouch) and egg shape and are sex organs. During puberty the two testes start secreting testosterone which stimulates the production of sperm cells called the male sex cells/ male gametes.
Scrotum
Two testes are enclosed in a skin pouch called the scrotum that protects testes and ensure that testes are kept at a constant temperature of 35 degrees Celsius which is the temperature sperm cells are produced.
Female reproductive organs
Oviduct or fallopian tubes
The uterus and ovaries are connected by two muscular tubes called the Oviducts. The released ovum passes into the Oviducts and transported to the uterus, fertrliasarion takes place inside this tube where the sperm cells meet the ovum after 3 days.
Ovaries
Two in either side which contain ova (female sex cells) and produce oestrogen. After puberty one ripe egg (ovum-contain the mother’s characteristics) is released by the ovaries in turn each month by the right or left ovary and this is called ovulation.
Uterus or womb
Hollow muscular organ with a lining supplying rich blood vessels, the fertilized ovum is implanted her and the unborn baby or fetus develops in the uterus until birth, the uterine wall becomes thicker hen a woman is pregnant and if not, breaks up and leaves the body during menstruation.
Bladder
Cervix narrow muscular opening that runs from the vagina to the uterus and stretches wide during birth.
Vagina is a msscular passage running from the uterus to the outside of the body and the erect penis fits into this passage and the vagina receives the male sperm cells released from the penis into the vagina during intercourse and is also the birth canal when a baby is born and the orgab through which the monthly me trial flow is excreted.
Growth
Cells divide and the baby grows and mature
Cell division
Cells divide and reproduce copies of themselves as the organism grows
Sexual maturation
Puberty cause sexual maturity and produces sex cells/gametes
Copulation
Sexual intercourse is the process when the erect penis enters the vagina
Ejaculation
The release of sperms from penis when the muscle line, sperms duct and urethra contracts
Ovulation
An egg cell ovum is released from the ovary once every month
Menstruation
Blood lining of the uterus detached if Fertilization has not occurred.
Fertilization
Egg cell and sperms units in the oviduct in the female body
Implantation
Fertilized egg zygote attached to the blood lining of the uterus and grows through cell division and is implanted in the in we lining of the uterine wall called an embryo now when the woman is pregnant
Pregnancy
Embryo grows and develops for about 2 months after Fertilization and becomes a fetus
The thickens uterine wall forms a tissue rich in blood vessels called the placenta
Fetus us connected to the placenta by an umbilical cord
