a method of training for runners where the terrain and speed are constantly changing and it trains cardiovascular fitness and speed.

a series of exercises completed for a certain amount of time or reps after one another and it trains many COF
What is interval training and what COF?
Physical training involving alternating stages of high and low intensity activities and it trains cardiovascular fitness and speed
What is plyometrics and what COF
Exercises where muscles use maximum force in short intervals of time and it trains power
What is weight training and what COF
Involves shifting weight to increase the strength of a muscle using a programme of exercises

Advantages-inexpensive
-can be dine in variety of places
Disadvantages- does not improve anaerobic fitness
-some people find it boring

Advantages- can be done on variety of terrains
-can include rest periods or can be continouous
Disadvantages-there may not be suitable terrain nearby
-difficult for coach to monitor unless he runs with the athlete

Advantages- a good source of all round fitness
-can include both aerobic and anaerobic exercises
Disadvantages- the circuit needs to be set up and wellnplanned out
- it is important to work hard on each circuit but people often pace themselves

Advantages- includes repeated sprints, which is anaerobic
-includes repetitions of high quality work that can get the heart rate nearly up to max.
Disadvantages- can be intense so needs full commitment
- some people find repeating intervals boring
Advanatges and disadvanatges for plyometrics
Advantages- exercises can be designed for a specific performances
- improves explosive fitness
Disadvantges- need knowledge of your event or a coach
- needs to progress gradually, as rest and recivery are important

Advanatges- programme can be specific to muscle group
- easy to monitor progress and overload
Disadvantges- needs suitable facilities and equipment
- need knowledge of safety and technique
