9
Q

what does mastery. personal experience lead to?

A

progressive mastery leads to mastery - progresssive mastery is achived by breaking down dificult tasks into small, relatively easy steps, to ensure a high degree of initial success

16
Q

what is extrinsic

A

external drive, such as rewards, completion, or treat for accomplishment

17
Q

what are the stages of Trans-theoretical model (stages of change)

A
  1. pre-contemplation
  2. contemplation
  3. preparation
  4. action
  5. maintenance
  6. relapse
18
Q

what is described by Pre-contemplation

A

Do not intend to take action ( ussually within the next 6 months).

unaware that thier behavior is problematic or produces negative consequences. focus on negatives of changing behavior rathar than the positives

19
Q

what is described by contemplation

A

Intending to start healthy behaviour ( within next 6 months)/

Recognize that thier behavior maybe problematic though they are still reluctant/resistant to changing thier behaviour

20
Q

What is described by preparation

A

Ready to take action! usually within the next 30 days - start to take small steps towards behavior change, these people take small steps towards the behaviour change. These people will typicaally have a plan ( joining a gym, personal trainer, etc.)

21
Q

What is described by action

A

recently changed their behavior ( within last 6 months)

intend to keep moving forward with that behavior change.

22
Q

what is described by maintenance:

A

sustained thier behavior change for a longer period of time ( >6months) and intend to maintain the behavior change going forward

23
Q

what is described by relapse ( previous termination)

A

relapse is a form of regression, which results in a return to an earlier stage. Relapse is recognized as a definite sep in the model given the common occurence.

24
Q

How can we progress through the Trans-theoretical model:

A

through variuos strategies like eduaction, anxiety , optimism

25
Q

what is a way to assess stage of change

A

self assessment

26
Q

What are the problems with self-reports of physical activity levels

A
  • tend to over estmate the amount of excersise
  • tend to underestimate the intensity of excerise
