2 prong approach: Personal coaching and full group

Personal: Great for addressing one-on-one. First step is to establish a rapport and then build into addressing things like arriving late to meetings. Reading between the lines to learn what styles work best for the diff people on the team.

2 prong approach: Personal coaching and full group

Full group:
1) Mini lessons on the Scrum values– not just what they are, but application and how to grow it in our team practice. Also, where the value of the event lies– and if they’re not seeing it, leading a deep dive into an event during a retro to “autopsy” the event and see what we can improve change.

2) SPECIFIC ACTION ITEMS AND THEN A FOLLOW UP IN THE NEXT RETRO. Guiding reflective questions that are attached to specific action items. EXAMPLE: WLCC people not coming prepared. We did an anonymous “how well do you think others are prepared” and talked about it and then “how well are you prepared”– the first question broke down barriers around answering the question because it was clearly a problem and then the follow up drove home indificual rolls. We reinvisioned what would have happened in a previous meeting if we’d all been ready and then created action items– they opted for a magnet board at the front that they slid b/w prepped or not. If they weren’t, they were eligible for some good natured ribbing and then I’d follow up with them to see what had happened/ if they needed support. The important thing was that they chose the consequence and that it never crossed a line. Tied w/ individual coaching (or the threat of it, haha), we saw growth.

3) Positive use of data (cumulative flow to have discussions around where bottle necks are)
