If a wave is transmitted through a material, does the wave change when it leaves the material?

• No. Remains the same.
• Unless the wave has been refracted, in that case, it changes direction when it leaves the material.

What happens to the wave if it is absorbed at the boundary between two different materials?

• The wave may not pass through the material at all.
