topography assessment Flashcards
ruminant - where is the abomasum?
ventral floor of the mid abdomen, slightly to the right
horse - where is the caecum?
right hand side, from the paralumbar fossa down to the xiphoid process
horse - where is the ascending colon?
ventral abdomen, both sides
horse - where is the spleen?
left hand side, mid to dorsal - half cranially and half caudally to the costal arch (half medial to the ribs)
horse - where is the pelvic flexure?
left hand side, caudal abdomen (most ventral aspect of paralumbar fossa ish)
horse - where are the kidneys?
dorsal, on both sides of abdomen - tucked at the top of the costal arch, half medial to the ribs
horse - which kidney is more cranial?
the right kidney
ruminant - where is the rumen?
left hand side, takes up most of the abdominal cavity (spans from dorsal to ventral)
ruminant - where is the reticulum?
primarily left hand side, mid-ventral cranial abdomen (medial to the ribs, literally behind left forelimb)
ruminant - where is the bulk of small intestines?
right hand side, caudoventral abdomen
ruminant - where is the liver?
right hand side, mid/dorsal - almost entirely medial to the ribs
ruminant - where are the kidneys?
both right hand side, left kidney just right of the midline. dorsal, just caudal of the costal arch
ruminant - where is the spleen?
left hand side, cranial abdomen - entirely medial of the ribs. dorsally almost vertically down, almost to ventral abdomen
