Genetic Inheritance Session 21 Flashcards

1
Q

Explain the product probability rule in genetics

A
  • This is when you want to know the possibility of two different things happening at once you multiple both of the separate probabilities to find the probability of both together
    For example:
Probability of rolling a 6 on a dice is 1/6 so if two dices were to do that the probability would be
    =(1/6)(1/6=1/36

Q

Explain the sum probability rule in genetics

A
  • This is when you want to know the probability of one of the two different things occurring
    For example :
The probability of rolling a 1 or 6 on a dice is 1/6 each. so to find out the probability of getting either of them in one roll you add them = (1/6+1/6)=1/3
