What is drive reduction?

A

Drive is reduced when motivation is lost. If performer feels they are already performing at their best, there is no reason to try harder.

What is the inverted U theory?

A

As arousal increases, performance improves, until optimum is reached, then performance declines. Optimum differs based on sport.
