1. Danby guided a bill through parl which gave Charles £600,000 if he joined a Dutch alliance against French– Charles annoyed bc saw as an invasion of royal prerogative
2. Treaty of Dover, 1670- the secret clause for 225,000 annually if Charles declares himself a Catholic
3. second anglo - dutch war (1665-7)– humiliation– Dutch now have a worldwide monopoly on nutmeg which was bad financially, chII fault, as Clarendon begged him not to start a war, but Clarendon got the blame.
4. Danby ended war w/ dutch, but bc he know Charles agreed to £300,000 from France if he didn’t side w/ dutch aggression, this created anger from parl and lead to danby fall in power
