1928 Fleming’s discovery of penicillin

A

Chemical antiseptics were used for didn’t heal infections from streptococcal and staphylococci bacteria. He left a pile of petri dishes containing bacteria around certain mould and after a while the bacteria had disappeared. He then experiment in the living cells. However, it didn’t work on deep infections and took a long time to create enough penicillin to use.

1938 Florey and chain is research and trials

A

Research on how James could be killed. They read Fleming’s penicillin how effective. They wanted funds from the government and finally got enough from America for five years research, however, they needed 3000 times more penicillin. Large companies couldn’t afford to fund this quality of work.

A

Penicillin began to be manufactured and used by everyone. Not just Armed Forces. It took time but antibiotics became more and more common in 1950s and 60s. It gradually transformed the wonderdrug into an ordinary every day. Life saver after 1948 it became free from NHS

A

Florey and chain injected, 8 miles to the lethal suspension of bacteria. Four were also given penicillin before recipients survived while the rest died. Providing definitive proof that penicillin worked against serious bacterial infection.1940s they systematically produce a pure form of penicillin at the beginning of the 1940s, and in investigating its properties in more detail, so it could be produced in large quantities
