A

Trade with the East along the Trans-Sibreian railway was disrupted by military priorities.

Shortages of raw materials, e.g. silk, cotton and chemicals affecting industries leading to factories closing. Especially in St Petersburg (resulted in loss of jobs)

Food prices were rising, unemployment was increasing and led to growing discontent in the winter of 1904-5.
