3rd Quarter Embalming 2 Test 4 Flashcards

1
Q

Femoral Artery (hip to knee) the inguinal artery is the point of origin for the femoral artery

Liner Guide: On the surface of the thigh from the center of the inguinal (femoral) ligament to a center point on the medial condyle (rounded structure on a bone) of the femur (thigh bone)

Anatomical Guide: Through the center of the femoral triangle bounded laterally by the sartorius muscle and medially by the adductor longus muscle.

Anatomical Limits: Begins at a point posterior to the center of the inguinal ligament and terminates at the opening of the Adductor magnus muscle - (a point above the back of the knee).

Place of Incision: Along any portion of the superior two-thirds (2/3) of the linear guide.

Considerations:
Large in size.
Lower portion of body can be embalmed without concern of distention of the face.
Equal distribution of fluid to the head.

Q

Accompanying vein of femoral artery- Femoral vein

Located medial and deep in relationship to the femoral artery. (Mid-thigh; at a point or below the apex of the femoral triangle)

Just below (inferior) the inguinal ligament it would go deeper in the tissues; so the femoral vein, in relationship to femoral artery just below the inguinal ligament, the femoral vein lies medial.

What is the name of the artery just superior or inferior to the apex of the femoral triangle? Femoral artery

What is the name of the vein just superior or inferior to the apex of the femoral triangle? Femoral vein
