Q

How does Ohm’s Law apply in AC circuits?

A

For simple resistive circuits, Ohm’s Law applies the same as it does in DC circuits. For complex circuits involve inductors and capacitors, Ohm’s Law does not apply the same way.

Q

What care must be taken when applying Ohm’s Law calculations to AC circuits?

A

All measurements of AC voltage and current must be expressed in the same terms (Peak, Peak-to-Peak, Average, or RMS). If source voltage is given in peak AC volts, then all currents and voltages subsequently calculated must also be in peak units as well. If source voltage is given in RMS, then calculated currents and voltages must also be in RMS units as well.
