    For many types of cough, chiefly chronic cough, cough w/ signs of fire from yin deficiency, cough w/ slight sputum difficult to expectorate or cough w/ blood-streaked sputum. It is most effective in treating cough accompanied by constrained qi, manifested in a reduced appetite & a stifling sensation in the chest & upper abdomen.
  2. Clears heat and dissipates nodules For disorders in which phlegm-fire collects and produces nodules, sores. Swellings, scrofula and Lung or breast abscess.

  2. Unbinds the chest and dissipates nodules For conditions in which qi accumulates in the chest leading to a stifling or distended sensation, constriction, pain or pressure in the diaphragm.
  3. Reduces abscesses and dissipates nodules Primarily for abscesses involving the Lungs, Intestines or breast.

  4. Promotes healing of sores Used adjunctively for breast abscess and swelling as well as sores that have not yet supporated.

  2. Clears heat and stops vomiting For vomiting of bitter or sour matter due to heat in Stomach w/ bad breath, aversion to heat & a yellow greasy tongue. The Stomach heat can be due to either excess or deficiency.

This herb is very effective at stopping vomiting & can be used, w/ other appropriate herbs, in treating other types of vomiting including those associated w/ morning sickness.
