- problems with input devices
What can cause a swollen battery?
over-charging, perhaps due to circuit failure
What is an indicator of poor battery health?
A laptop battery that won’t charge up
What 3 things can cause poor battery health?
- setting that limits how much charge the battery can hold to preserve lifespan
- failing battery (battery has outlived its useful life)
- A/C adapter isn’t charging (aka: improper charging)

False
What benefit comes with adding RAM?
improved performance
How do you upgrade RAM?
- refer to manufacturer’s website to determine compatible RAM
- determine current RAM configuration
- determine where the RAM is located
- press out restraining clips, gently remove the old stick, and insert new stick
- always remove electrical power and take out battery (or refer to documentation if battery is not removable)

What are SSD form factors and their characteristics?
M.2: newer and uses less space
mSATA: in-between M.2 and 2.5 inch in size
2.5in SATA: used in older laptops
What is the mSATA or M.2 drive replacement process?
- most drives are located behind a plate on the bottom
- remove the tiny retaining screw and pop the old drive out
- put the new drive in its place and replace the retaining screw
What is the 2.5 HDD or SSD replacement process?
- Remove HDD bay cover
- Slide old drive out
- Slide new drive in
- Replace cover

- new card must be connected to motherboard in slot and via antenna connection/power cable
What are the motherboard connection standards for laptop wireless cards and which is newer?
- M.2 (newer)
- Mini-PCIe (older)
What are measurements of physical characteristics that are documented and verified through the use of scanners?
