Compare and contrast transportation by stagecoach, steam engine and steamboat

A

Stagecoach - Large horse drawn carriages, traveled on narrow rugged dirt trails, roads were swampy during rainstorms,travel was always slow in any weather.

Steam Engine - motor that is powered by compressed steam, able to pull a heavier load than a team of horses.

Steamboat - powered by a steam engine, invented by Robert Fulton, first steamboat named the clermont, first trip from NYC to Albany in 1807, took 32 hours to travel 150 miles, other boats 8 to 11 days, increased migration to the west.
