24. Wilcoxon & The Sign Test Flashcards
1
Q
What is the Wilcoxon test
A
The Wilxcoxon test is a test of difference for related data.
2
Q
When is the Wilcoxon test used
A
- A hypothesis states that there’ll be a difference between 2 sets of data.
- The data is ordinal.
- The experiment is a repeated measures or matched pairs design.
3
Q
See pg128 for worked eg on Wilcoxon test
A
4
Q
What is the Sign test
A
- The Sign test is one of the easiest statistical tests.
- It compares scores in data from repeated measures or matched pairs designs by turning the change in scores into nominal data.
(may be asked calculate the observed value here, so make sure to learn method, DONT NEEED TO KNOW METHOD FOR THE OTHER TESTS).
5
Q
How to calculate the observed value for the Sign test
A
- Find & state the difference between the two scores (+ or -).
- Add up the number of + signs & - signs. The smaller one is the observed value.
