Q

Discuss the development of the paranasal sinuses

6
Q

Discuss the development of the frontal sinus in more detail

A

The frontal sinus is the only sinus absent at birth, appearing in the second year. These are really anterior ethmoidal air cells that have migrated up.

Q

What is the roof and floor of the maxillary sinus?

Q

Where is the maxillary sinus found relative to the nasal cavity? How does it appear at birth?

Q

What are the lateral relations to the sphenoidal sinus?

A

The cavernous sinus and internal carotid artery

17
Q

What are the posterior relations of the sphenoidal sinus?

A

The posterior cranial fossa and the pons

18
Q

Where is the sphenoidal sinus ostium found?

A

In the anterior wall of the sinus. It opens into the sphenoethmoidal recess.

19
Q

What are the the boundaries of the frontal sinus?

A

Extends from the medial end of the eyebrow into the squamous part of the frontal bone and backwards into the orbital part of the frontal bone

20
Q

Where is the ostium of the frontal sinus?

A

In the lower medial corner of the sinus.
