Describe the nature and location of the temporomandibular joint

A

A synovial joint between the head of the mandible and the mandibular fossa on the under surface of the squamous part of the temporal bone

How is the temporomandibular joint separated?

A

Into an upper and lower joint by a fibrocartilaginous disc attached around its periphery to the inside of the capsule.
