Bloods - FBE, UEC, Lipids, aPTT

Imaging - carotid duplex, CT/MRI head

Management - asymptomatic

A

Aggressive medical management - antiplatelet therapy, antihypertensive therapy and cholesterol lowering
Carotid endartectomy is considered only patients with stenosis >80%

A

Carotid endartectomy

Percutaneous transluminal cerebrovascular angioplasty and stenting can be considered, but is less effective
