1
Q

Spinal Cord Blood flow

A

Radially arranged posterior and anterior radicular arteries run into the spinal cord alongside dorsal and ventral nerve roots. Most do not connect with longitudinal arteries. These intercostal and lumbar radicular arteries arise from the aorta, provide major anastomoses, supplement blood flow to spinal cord.

Largest anterior radicular artery is the artery of Adamkiewicz, appears around L1&2 but can be anywhere from T9-L5.
