S/S deep vein thrombosis
Pain and tenderness in the leg, pain on foot extention, swelling of lower leg, foot or ankle. Red or warm skin.
s/s Colorectal cancer
blood in the stool, change in bowel movements, weight loss, and feeling tired all the time., worsening constipation, decrease in stool caliber (thickness), loss of appetite, N/V
What are the 2 main sub types of eosophageal cancer?
squamous-cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma
What is Thrombocytopenia?
Decrease in number of circulating platelets, insufficient platelets to form a clot.
S/S thrombocytopenia?
Rash (pinpoint red spots called petechia), nosebleeds (epistaxis), bruising, bleeding in mouth and gums
What is Multiple myeloma?
Abnormal plasma cells made in the bone marrow.
What is Lymphoma?
Cancers that develop in the lymphatic system (spleen, liver)
Components of blood cells
Erythrocytes (RBC), Leukocytes, Thrombocytes (Platelets)
What is Venous Thromboembolism?
Umbrella term for DVT and PE
What is Histamines link to mast cells?
Histamine is produced in granules of the mast cells.
When does lymphoma arise?
When developing B and T lymphocytes undergo a malignant change and multiply in an uncontrolled way
What is a strain?
Stretch/partial tear of muscle or tendon
What is a sprain?
Damage to supporting ligaments of joint or joint capsule
