field sobriety test

A

Horizontal gaze nystagmus: observation of a suspects pupil as it follows a moving object. looking for smoothness, distinct and sustained nystagmus and its onset of 45 degrees. depressants can cause this, and scientific as muscle memory doesn’t cause this.
WAT: walk and turn to test for lack of balance. take nine steps in heel to toe fashion, as you are turning the officer looks for , 1) whether you are unable to maintain your balance while listening to the officer’s instructions; (2) whether you begin walking before the officer has completed the instructions; (3) whether you stop while walking in order to regain your balance; (4) whether you actually touch your feet heel-to-toe; (5) whether you use your arms to maintain your balance; (6) whether you lose your balance while turning; and (7) whether you take an incorrect number of steps.
One leg stand: testing, listening and standing counting and balance. point toe and count to 30, wont do if off kilt.
NHTSA approved. testify in district or circuit courts. 250 subpeaonas a year.
