3.3.8 Tolerances Flashcards
(10 cards)
what is used to check dimensions are in specific tolerances?
no-go gauge
what is a tolerance?
the amount of error allowed for a given task. There is a specific measurement range which is an acceptable difference which can be shown as a percentage or number
what ensures a hole will be drilled to the correct depth?
depth stop of a drill
what is seam allowance?
the area between the line of stitching and the edge of the fabric
what can be used on metals or plastic for accurate cutting?
laser cutters
they wont be worn out but consumes lots of power
what machines are used to detect physical pattern defects in textile factories?
machine vision systems
purpose of quality control
checks/ tests a product to ensure it meets all standards, tolerances or specification criteria to guarantee accuracy of a component
what is a pattern in textiles?
A TEMPLATE made from paper/ card.
it is made up of several sections which represent different sections of the garment.
jigs
keep a material positioned in the same place without being machines (basically a guide)
how are tolerances used in quality control?
-maximum/minimum lengths are used so components are disagarded for being the precise size.
-sampling
-seam allowance
