Q

When rays are parallel to principal axis?

A

will intersect at point F and because of direction of normals, rays continue to diverge

Q

How does Index of refraction and curve impact position of focal point?

A
  • Lenses with higher indices of refraction bend light rays more, making the focal point closer to the lens
  • Lenses with a larger curvature, but same index of refraction cause light rays to bend more

Q

Rules to Locate images in Converging Lenses

A
  1. rays parallel to p-axis = leave through focal
  2. ray that enters lens through focal = leave lens parallel to p-axis
  3. ray that passes through origin of lens = leave in same direction
