Intelligence
mental quality consisting of the ability to learn from experience, solve problems, and use knowledge to adapt to new situations
Factor Analysis
a statistical method used to describe variability among observed variables in terms of a potentially lower number of unobserved variables
General Intelligence
a factor that underlies specific mental abilities and is therefor measured by every task on an intelligence test
Savant Syndrome
condition where a person otherwise limited in mental ability has an exceptional specific skill
Emotional Intelligence
perceive emotions, understand emotions, manage emotions, use emotions
Creativity
ability to produce ideas that are both novel and valuable
Intelligence Test
a method for assessing an individual’s mental aptitudes and comparing them with those of others with numerical values
Mental Age
chronological age typical of a given level of performance
Standford- Binet
Binet’s original idea, but with some changes and new age norms for the kids in California
Intelligence Quotient
the measure of a person’s intelligence as shown on a intelligence test
Aptitude Test
a test designed to predict a person’s future performance
Achievement Test
a test designed to assess what a person knows
Standardization
the establishment of a standard
Normal Curve
a bell shaped curve representing scores
Reliability
the extent to which a test yields consistent results
